I have 3 family members who went to NYU,Feb 06 2009History/Histories (art history/etc.)
I have 3 family members who went to NYU, so that definitely helps. I've been told they like to admit "diverse" students. Also, having a weird background or story in your application helps.

I studied and I wrote a pretty good essay. If you are dead set on coming here, don't let the academics scare you. If NYU is one of the schools that you are considering, I would advise you to think twice, but write a good essay and you are golden.

Make sure you have and passion for learning. That's all they want to see. So tell them what you like learning about best. You should have some strong interests.

For the film program, I know when I appliedNov 10 2008Video/Media
For the film program, I know when I applied I was worried about everyone else having so much more experience and connections to the film industry than I did. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THAT. Most people never took a film class, been on a film set, knew anybody, ect. They dont want to take people who think they know everything, thats what the school is for. Dont stress about what everyone else has done, just work on your portfolio. I love our program. yay tisch! And a lot of people in film i know were early decision so if you know for sure you want NYU and are sure you can afford it (unfortunately tisch dosent give a lot of scolarships....) i recommend doing it. You'll know earlier if you're in, possibly have a better chance, and wont have to stress as long. That being said, a lot of people dont do early decision who are in so if you arent sure and choose not to do it dont freak out. good luckk!!
